Carrying forward the 218-year-old tradition of celebrating Robert Burns on his birthday, a group of 50+ fans of Scotland, poetry, whisky, and the University of Edinburgh joined 9 million others around the world to sing his songs (including “Auld Lang Syne”), read his poetry (“Address to a Haggis”), eat haggis, neeps, and tatties, and enjoy whisky and the fellowship of others who have at least one of the forementioned items in common.
Many thanks to the Greenwich Pipe Band for giving the most robust performance to date (this was our fourth year), to Stefanie Kies for her beautiful renditions of Burns’ songs, to Nina Becker for making the neeps, and for everyone for coming and joining me at this event that is so close to my heart. See you next year!
